How-To - Change a Wheel

How-To – Change a Wheel
With the Moke's engine NOT running, in first gear and with the handbrake on; use the correct sized wheel brace socket to loosen (turn anticlockwise) the wheel nuts on the wheel you wish to remove. Once the wheel nuts are just loosened, jack up the vehicle, as close as you can to the wheel you are removing by placing the jack under a strong part of the Moke such as the sub frame (rear - shown by finger point, front -shown by red circle).

Once the vehicle has been jacked up high enough that the wheel is free to rotate and making sure the Moke is stable on the jack, carefully continue removing the wheel nuts. Once the wheel nuts have all been taken off, remove the wheel. Make sure the Moke is stable on the jack and NEVER attempt to get under a car that is held up by only a jack. Always use axle stands if attempting to get under a jacked up vehicle.
Replacement of the wheel is the reverse of removal, with wheel nuts doing up in the clockwise direction. Ensure the wheel nuts are tight once the Moke is back on all four wheels. NEVER use entire bodyweight to tighten wheel nuts e.g. don't stand on wheel brace to tighten, this can cause the wheel studs to break and the wheel can then be separated from the car.
